In horizontal continuous casting process the wide range of graphite products are used as well.
To allow sufficient wear resistance the small grain size graphite grades which bring good mechanical strength are recommended for that application.
Small grain size additionally means the working surfaces of the parts can be precisely machined and polished down to “mirror like” appearance assuring better surface quality of the cast products and longer lifespan of the graphite part in operation as only minor melt penetration occurs during casting.
